ICLR 2027 Introduces Authorship Quotas to Curb AI-Generated Paper Flood
thegautamkamath · x · 2026-07-31
To combat the rising tide of "AI slop," the top-tier academic conference ICLR 2027 has introduced strict authorship quotas.
The new rules cap submissions at 20 per author. Additionally, teams with no prior acceptances at major ML conferences are limited to just 1 submission. Community members suggest lowering the cap to 5 papers unless authors contribute significantly to the reviewing workload.
