Google Launches Gemini Robotics 2: Single Model Enables Multi-Robot Collaboration

Google DeepMind has launched Gemini Robotics 2, designed to act as a unified brain for various robots.
- Dexterity Breakthrough: Solves a 50-year-old challenge in robotics—fine motor control. Humanoids can autonomously tie trash bag knots, seal ziplock bags, and screw in lightbulbs (22 degrees of freedom per hand).
- Multi-Robot Teamwork: Given the same task without role assignment, two robots successfully split the work and coordinated to clean a room.
- Generalization & Local Execution: Adapts to new robot bodies in hours with fewer than 200 examples. Runs locally, controls various forms (humanoids, dual-arms, grippers), and self-corrects upon step failure.
