Lamina Labs Raises $4.8M, Launches Simi for 20-Second Explainer Videos

Startup Lamina Labs announced a $4.8 million funding round led by Foundation Capital, with participation from Link Ventures and Y Combinator.
Alongside the funding, the company launched Simi, a tool that works like ChatGPT but outputs videos instead of text. By taking a single prompt or document, Simi can generate a one-minute narrated explainer video in as little as 20 seconds, supporting over 80 languages.
