DeepMind Launches Gemini Robotics 2: Unifying Whole Body Control and Dexterity
DynamicWebPaige · x · 2026-07-31
Google DeepMind has launched Gemini Robotics 2, its next-generation physical AI model designed to bring full-body intelligence to humanoid robots.
The model's core breakthrough addresses a major trade-off in robotics: the co-optimization of Whole Body Control (WBC) and Dexterous Manipulation (DM). Traditionally, pushing for fine manipulation (like tying knots or threading a needle) came at the cost of coordinating the full humanoid frame. The new model successfully pushes the Pareto frontier forward by delivering both capabilities within a single system.
