OpenAI Slashes GPT-5.6 Prices by Up to 80%, Devs Say It Beats Competitors

OpenAI announced price reductions for its GPT-5.6 series, cutting Luna by 80% and Terra by 20%, while offering a faster Sol option in the API. The lower costs are reflected in usage limits for Codex and ChatGPT Work.
A developer testing the update called the pricing "insane," claiming no open-source or Chinese model competes at this level, and has already migrated multiple workflows and agents to it.
