Google Unveils Gemini Robotics 2 and ER 2 for Advanced Embodied Reasoning
GoogleAI · x · 2026-07-30
Google DeepMind has officially introduced Gemini Robotics 2, designed to serve as the intelligence layer for the next generation of highly adaptable robots. This major advancement unlocks intelligent whole-body control, advanced dexterity, and multi-robot collaboration.
Alongside, they launched Gemini Robotics ER 2, an embodied reasoning model acting as the robot's high-level brain. It enhances capabilities to observe environments, reason about necessary actions, coordinate with vision-language-action (VLA) models to execute tasks, and track progress until completion. This architecture allows robots to handle complex, real-world tasks requiring long-term planning.
