Cloudflare Migrates cdnjs Entirely to Its Developer Platform, Handling 9 Billion Daily Requests

Cloudflare Blog · rss · 2026-07-30

Cloudflare announced that as of June 23, 2026, cdnjs, a free open-source CDN serving 12% of all websites, has been fully migrated to Cloudflare's Developer Platform (Workers, Workflows, D1, Queues, R2, etc.). It handles an average of 108,000 requests per second (9 billion daily) with a 98.6% cache hit rate. The migration was driven by pain points in the previous architecture (GCP Functions + VM + GitHub), including poor observability, split-brain storage, and fragile pipelines. The new architecture uses R2 as the single source of truth, improving reliability and security.
