OpenAI Execs: July ARR Surpassed Q2, Codex Catching Up to Anthropic

OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar told employees at an internal meeting that the company's annualized recurring revenue (ARR) in July exceeded the entire second quarter.
She and board chair Bret Taylor credited the growth to the GPT-5.6 series, the ChatGPT Work enterprise agent, and Codex. However, Taylor conceded that OpenAI is still playing catch-up to Anthropic in coding capabilities.
