Digital Brain Project Secures $15M to Open-Source Neural Data and Model Human Brain

Coordinated by the Rothschild Hospital Foundation, the Digital Brain Project announced a scale-up to a total of $15M USD in funding.
The project aims to accelerate open science by collecting and openly sharing neural data to develop foundational AI models of the human brain. The ultimate goal is to fast-track advances in neural disease diagnosis and treatment by understanding how the brain reasons, plans, and decides.
Approach:
Neuroscientific teams worldwide will collaborate to record participants' brain activity during interactive games inside brain scanners. The resulting dataset—comprising 15,000 hours of naturalistic brain activity—will be used to train a digital brain model, validated against cognitive and reasoning benchmarks.
