FCC Blocks New Foreign-Made Humanoid and Quadruped Robots from US Market
chris_j_paxton · x · 2026-07-30
The FCC has added advanced robotic devices, including foreign-made humanoids and quadrupeds, to its Covered List, banning new versions from import or sale in the US.
The policy primarily targets China. Critics note that while this protects a small group of domestic hardware companies from competition, it undercuts the broader US AI and research ecosystem. Labs may lose access to cost-effective, advanced robotic platforms, which domestic suppliers cannot adequately replace in the short term.
