Plasma Proteomics Can Predict Metabolic Liver Disease Up to 16 Years Early

Top medical expert Eric Topol shared a new study published in Nature Aging. The research shows that by analyzing the plasma proteome, it is possible to predict the clinical onset of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) up to 16 years in advance.
Across cohorts including Southern UK, Northern UK, EPIC-Norfolk, and Southern China totaling over 50,000 participants, the researchers identified and validated a predictive signature consisting of five specific plasma proteins (FUOM, ACY1, KRT18, CDHR2, and GGT1). This further demonstrates the massive potential of proteomics in early disease forecasting.
