The EU has officially launched a bidding process to develop AI Gigafactories, expecting to unlock around €30 billion in investment. The bidding process closes on November 12, with awards scheduled for July 2027.
However, critics note that this budget translates to less than 500MW of actual AI compute capacity, which falls short of the scale required for cutting-edge AI clusters.
