EU Launches AI Gigafactory Bidding, Aiming to Unlock ~€30B Investment

The EU has officially launched a bidding process to develop AI Gigafactories, expecting to unlock around €30 billion in investment. The bidding window will close on November 12, with awards expected in July 2027.
However, the author points out that this massive investment translates to less than 500MW worth of AI compute, implying it might not be as massive in the current AI compute arms race.
