Lloyds Banking Group, the UK's largest high street lender, announced a four-year plan to cut £2 billion in costs by leveraging new tech and AI. The bank also plans to invest £13 billion into the business by 2030 to fund "pioneering technology" aimed at improving efficiency and increasing shareholder payouts.
Specific AI initiatives include rolling out "AI-powered advice" for wealth and workplace pensions, offering personalized recommendations based on customer behavior, and assisting relationship managers. While CEO Charlie Nunn emphasized simplifying complex services, he declined to detail potential job losses, sparking external concerns over AI-driven layoffs.
