Driven by surging AI demand, India's data center market is experiencing massive expansion. CPP Investments (Canada's largest pension fund) recently invested $740 million (approx. 70 billion rupees) in local data center firm CtrlS to build new campuses.
According to Wood Mackenzie, India's total data center capacity will skyrocket from 2.2 gigawatts to 12 gigawatts by 2030, with AI-dedicated capacity growing nearly 24-fold. CtrlS's founder highlighted that grid expansion is critical, noting India needs an additional 100 gigawatts of grid capacity to support this infrastructure.
