CAR-T Therapy Eliminates Deadly Brain Cancer in Preclinical Models

A new study led by King's College London and McMaster University demonstrates significant progress in using CAR-T cell therapy to treat glioblastoma.
In several preclinical models, including patient-derived tumors, the therapy eliminated detectable tumors and led to long-term disease-free survival. Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer with an average survival time of just 12-18 months and a 5% five-year survival rate.
While CAR-T has been successful in blood cancers, treating solid tumors is notoriously difficult due to the complex tumor microenvironment. Leveraging advanced analysis, the research provides new hope for targeting this deadly cancer.
