Using Claude to Find a Hidden Contract Loophole and Avoid a $1,000 Fee

Clean-Data-259 · reddit · 2026-07-30

A Reddit user shared how they used Claude to help a friend avoid a $1,000 cancellation fee.

The friend's contract contained a heavily buried and extremely strict cancellation clause, and the sales agent had previously lied about it being a real contract. When things looked bleak, the user asked Claude to find loopholes. The AI discovered that the contract required cancellations to be initiated strictly via an online portal.

Since the friend had only canceled by phone, the cancellation was technically void. Consequently, the provider's failure to install the equipment constituted a breach of contract on their end, successfully invalidating the fee.
