Microsoft released its Q4 FY2026 earnings, showing expanded AI commercialization alongside rising compute cost pressures. Azure revenue growth accelerated to 43% this quarter, with annual revenue surpassing $100 billion for the first time. Microsoft 365 Copilot paid seats exceeded 30 million, transitioning towards a "seat + usage" billing model.

However, heavy AI infrastructure investments are depressing cash flow. Capital expenditures surged 70% YoY to $41 billion, causing free cash flow to drop 23%. Additionally, the report indicated a 2.2% YoY decrease in global headcount, alongside a newly announced layoff plan.
