AI researcher Zachary Lipton strongly mocked major AI companies for complaining about model "distillation." He pointed out that these same companies scraped massive amounts of unauthorized copyrighted data for their own training, making their outrage over others extracting capabilities from their models the greatest act of hypocrisy in history.
