Anthropic CEO: AI Model Finds 271 Firefox Vulnerabilities, Prioritizing Defenders
firasd · x · 2026-07-30
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently shared breakthrough progress in AI-driven cybersecurity. He noted that previous models failed to find the 271 Firefox vulnerabilities uncovered by Mythos, while the new model has discovered thousands more within private companies.
Amodei admitted that Anthropic has suffered commercially from not releasing this model to prevent misuse. Their strategy is to give the tool to defenders first to patch the bugs, significantly raising the bar for attackers. He compared the mechanism to patching holes in a surface—once all vulnerabilities are fixed, the system becomes incredibly hard to attack.
