Meta Stock Dives 8% as Zuckerberg's AI Hype Fails to Cushion Earnings Miss
nordicinst · x · 2026-07-30
Mark Zuckerberg's recent media spree touting the positive impacts of AI did little to cushion the blow of Meta's weaker-than-expected second-quarter earnings, sending the stock tumbling nearly 8%.
Financials
- Earnings per share stood at $6.18, missing Wall Street's estimate of $7.14.
- Revenue came in at $60.8bn, slightly beating the predicted $60.23bn.
- The company raised the lower end of its expense guidance, partly due to $2.4bn in legal proceedings charges for the quarter.
Zuckerberg's AI Vision
Ahead of the results, Zuckerberg penned an op-ed imagining a world where everyone has access to a super-intelligent lawyer, arguing it would make justice much fairer and more efficient.
