Hermes Agent Adds Local Voice Activation: Raspberry Pi Beats Alexa
breath_mirror · x · 2026-07-30
NousResearch announced that Hermes Agent now features local voice activation. Saying the wake word opens a new session and listens for commands, enabling hands-free operation across CLI, TUI, or desktop apps. The detection runs entirely locally and is off by default. A developer shared a DIY setup using a Raspberry Pi and USB mic linked to a local model, creating a personal voice assistant that is more powerful and significantly more private than a standard Alexa device.
