DeepMind Denies Pivot, Expands Science Team with Gemini Agents

Refuting rumors that Google DeepMind is pivoting from hard biological problems to the "AI scientist" race, research lead Pushmeet Kohli clarified that the Science team is actually expanding.
He emphasized their continued commitment to tackling tough challenges in science and biology, from understanding protein function to de-novo protein design. Furthermore, the majority of the AlphaFold team continues to work on hard scientific challenges by developing Gemini-powered agents for Science to accelerate discovery.
