OpenAI announces free access to its frontier AI models for 100,000 scientists, mathematicians, and engineers through 2027. It starts with 10,000 this summer, scaling to 100,000 by 2027. GPT-5.6 Sol Pro included from day one. Each researcher can invite 4 people from their institution. Meanwhile, 1.3 million people use ChatGPT for advanced science and math weekly. arXiv math papers crediting ChatGPT surged from 14 in February to 100 in July, a 7x increase.
