Wiring a Codex Agent into the Manufacturing Supply Chain: Autonomous Part Search and Build Decisions

mattfreed · x · 2026-07-30

The author is integrating a Codex agent into a directory of U.S. quick-turn manufacturers (partsma.de). The directory lists U.S.-based shops that deliver parts fast, filterable by process and size. The author believes that while giving agents bodies is important, the interesting part is whether they can navigate the physical supply chain themselves: decide what can be bought, what needs to be manufactured, and who can make it. Currently, the agent is searching for parts and working out what it would need to build.
