Switching Between Closed and Open Source Models: Missing Thinking Traces, but Claude Code Can Critique Them

The author notes that when switching between frontier closed models and open source models, the thinking trace is missing. Interestingly, feeding thinking traces to Claude Code allows it to correctly critique them, call out inefficiencies, and even help improve prompts.
