OpenAI Fixes Codex Usage Drain: GPT-5.6 Sol Limits Last 18% Longer
mark_k · x · 2026-07-30
OpenAI announced a major Codex usage update: limits have been reset for all Codex and ChatGPT Work users, and GPT-5.6 Sol usage will now last about 18% longer. The temporarily suspended 5-hour limit will also return tomorrow. OpenAI clarified that actual limits were never reduced; Sol simply consumed more tokens by running longer and coordinating subagents. The team has now optimized inefficiencies in code mode.
