Perplexity Open-Sources Numbat: Endpoint Detection and Response for AI Agents

Perplexity announced the open-sourcing of Numbat, an endpoint detection and response (D&R) tool designed specifically for AI agent activity. It monitors desktop, CLI, and IDE agents via local hooks and OpenTelemetry. Numbat features an on-device CEL detection engine with multi-step rules, optional pre-action blocking, and forensic reconstruction, giving security teams full visibility into agent behaviors.
