OpenAI · youtube · 2026-07-30

OpenAI announced a major initiative to provide scientists, mathematicians, and engineers with free access to its frontier models, aiming to democratize AI capabilities beyond well-resourced labs. The program will initially support 10,000 researchers, scaling up to 100,000 participants by 2027.

Participants will get access to OpenAI's frontier models, including the upcoming GPT-5.6 family. The workspace features business-grade privacy, does not use researcher data for training by default, and allows up to four collaborators. The program also includes training and hands-on support to help accelerate scientific discovery and productivity.
