SebastienBubeck · x · 2026-07-30
Microsoft AI VP Sébastien Bubeck announced the launch of ChatGPT for Academics. He reflected that when he entered AI development four years ago, he predicted AI would surpass human math capabilities by 2030—a milestone achieved ahead of schedule in 2026.
He emphasized that science is being fundamentally transformed by AI, but this acceleration requires scientists to have actual access to SOTA models. The new academic version of ChatGPT is designed specifically to empower researchers and push the boundaries of knowledge.
