Morgan Stanley: AI to Cut Nearly $1 Trillion Annually from S&P 500 Budgets

Artificial intelligence adoption could unlock nearly $1 trillion a year in savings for S&P 500 companies, according to a new analysis by Morgan Stanley. The bank calculates that 90% of jobs will be touched in some way by AI automation or augmentation.

The cost savings will flow directly from reduced headcount, natural attrition, and the automation of knowledge-intensive but routine tasks. Widescale deployment of agentic AI software and embodied AI humanoid robotics will be the primary drivers of this transformation.
