A Blender plugin built with ChatGPT automates LEGO-style assembly animations

A creator says they built a Blender plugin called BrickAnimator with ChatGPT after starting from a small experiment. The plugin detects the parts of an imported brick model, treats the assembled model as the target state, and can automatically lay out the pieces on the floor and animate them back into the completed build.
What it can do
- Arrange parts in a floor grid or a compact product-style semicircle
- Auto-adjust spacing and reduce overlaps
- Keep the build area clear and restore the original model
- Support multiple animation timings: all-at-once, sequential, staggered, bottom-up, random, or fully manual order
- Generate collision-aware flight paths with safety clearance
- Let special pieces approach from above, below, front/back, or left/right for believable assembly
The post also highlights configurable motion styles such as precise, dynamic, playful, mechanical, or crisp snapping.
