Dario Amodei warns AI is outrunning policy and could soon reach “country of geniuses” scale

Dario Amodei argues that AI is advancing far faster than the policy process can respond. In the essay, he says models have gone from barely writing coherent code to writing most of the code at major AI companies in just four years, and he warns that continued scaling could soon produce what he calls “powerful AI,” or “a country of geniuses in a datacenter.”

He frames the central problem as a timing mismatch:
