MazeBench brings a 3D open-world benchmark for long-horizon spatial reasoning
i_dg23 · x · 2026-07-29
A new benchmark called MazeBench introduces a 3D open-world environment for evaluating long-term planning with visual spatial reasoning.
According to the post, it spans hundreds of rooms and puzzles, uses hand-crafted levels, and allows models to be evaluated with full capabilities rather than artificial harness restrictions. The claim is that today’s best agents still cannot get past the earliest levels.
Why it matters
- It tests spatial reasoning, long-horizon planning, and token efficiency.
- The puzzle design is meant to be hard to brute-force with search.
- The poster argues it may be one of the best reasoning benchmarks available right now.
