A new study finds that the flood of AI-written books is crowding out human authors.
- Over three years, the book catalog expanded 38x cumulatively, while revenue grew only 9x quarterly.
- As a result, no-AI books now earn less per book than they did in 2023 in 7 of 8 genres.
- The one exception is fantasy/horror, where human authors are up 35%.
- The core takeaway: supply is growing much faster than demand, so the average book earns less.
