Open-source pressure, not safety, may be driving enthusiasm for the slowdown letter

The author says he is torn about calls to slow down frontier AI development: if it is a genuine desire to decelerate, that is one thing, but if it is a veiled power grab, he is unconvinced.
He adds a pointed observation: AI labs without cloud companies seem the most eager to sign such letters, and those are often the ones most threatened by open source.
