US Humanoid Robot Ban Criticized as 'Regulatory Capture' Stifling Innovation

Developer cixliv recently criticized the proposed US "humanoid robot ban," arguing it severely hinders the industry. He pointed out that while no American humanoid companies are currently shipping products, nearly all cutting-edge humanoid research relies on Chinese robots like the Unitree G1.
He views the ban not as a cybersecurity measure, but as "regulatory capture" driven by US companies unable to compete with China. This move will hurt startups dependent on imported hardware for R&D, while having little impact on borderless projects like fighting-robot leagues.
