In response to OpenAI and Anthropic suggesting a slowdown in model development, the author points out that this could give competitors a critical window to catch up.
Noting the upcoming launch of GLM 5.5 in August, the author boldly predicts that if US frontier models suspend development, open-source models will completely surpass closed-source ones by September.
