1,122 frontier AI employees urge international tools to slow automated AI progress

Employees and executives from frontier AI companies are signing a letter that asks the U.S. government to back an international effort to slow down frontier AI development.

The statement argues that leading labs may be close to automating AI research, which could accelerate capability progress beyond society’s ability to understand or control it. Rather than asking any one company to slow down unilaterally, it calls for technical and governance tools that would let governments and industry deliberately pace frontier-wide progress while building better safety and oversight mechanisms.
