A new "Pacing the Frontier" statement has been signed by 1,122 employees across frontier AI companies, including people at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others.
The statement argues that frontier AI progress may be accelerating beyond society's ability to understand or control it, and calls on the U.S. government to support an international effort to build the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace automated AI development.
