Anthropic's Claude Halves Post-Quantum Security, Accelerates AES Attacks by 800x
petrusenko_max · x · 2026-07-29
Anthropic's Claude Mythos Preview model has demonstrated remarkable potential in cryptography. Within just 60 hours, it halved the key strength of the post-quantum scheme HAWK and accelerated attacks on reduced AES by 200 to 800 times.
It is important to note that these are advances in cryptanalysis. This means the model significantly pushed the theoretical boundaries of breaking specific algorithms, but it does not imply that currently deployed encryption systems are under immediate threat.
