A new attack cut HAWK’s security margin by half in 60 hours
Anthropic-linked commentary says the HAWK digital signature scheme had already survived two years of expert review, but a previously unknown attack was found by Mythos Preview in just 60 hours. The attack reportedly reduced the scheme’s key strength by about 50%.
The key takeaway is that even heavily reviewed cryptographic schemes can still expose new weaknesses, and fast AI-assisted analysis may be able to surface them much faster than traditional review cycles.
