OpenAI says coding agents are taking over the grunt work in science so researchers can spend more time thinking.
According to the post, agents are now handling routine maintenance, targeted optimization, and even full redesigns or new systems. But humans still need to define the scientific questions, verify results, and decide on long-term ownership of the work.
