OpenAI and Anthropic push Washington to make frontier-model rules apply to rivals too

OpenAI and Anthropic are reportedly lobbying Washington together over the Trump administration’s upcoming framework for evaluating and regulating “frontier models,” due by August 1.
According to the report, the companies want the rules to apply to capable competitors such as Meta and SpaceXAI as well, so that OpenAI and Anthropic do not end up facing 30-day pre-release evaluations while rivals can ship without the same delay.
