A post on X claims that GPT-5.6.1 is incoming, citing a separate rumor that new OpenAI model variants called Zinc and Magnesium appeared in DesignArena.
The cited rumor says those names are likely updates to GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.6 Terra, both currently disabled, and suggests they could arrive this week or next as OpenAI’s response to Claude Opus 5. This remains unconfirmed.
