US Models Refused Debugging for Safety; Chinese Open-Source Models Found Linux Kernel Bug

While debugging a rare segmentation fault in ripgrep, a developer traced the root cause to an extremely subtle bug in the Linux kernel. Surprisingly, mainstream US AI models refused to assist in debugging the issue citing "safety reasons."
Eventually, the developer successfully located and fixed the kernel-level bug using Chinese open-source models from StepFun (Zaiorg) and Moonshot. The incident sparked discussions about whether model safety guardrails are overly restricting normal development work.
