A recent study utilized AI text detection tools to analyze self-published genre fiction on Amazon. It revealed that the platform is being flooded with books containing substantial AI-generated text.
These low-quality books are generating significant revenue despite their nature, and more importantly, they are crowding out the sales of non-AI books. The research highlights that Generative AI drastically lowers the barrier to entry, allowing books to have a market impact simply by existing in the thousands, regardless of quality.
