Open weights model competition aims to speed Laguna XS 2.1 on consumer Macs
A launch post from Eigen Labs and collaborators introduces an open autoresearch competition focused on making Laguna XS 2.1 inference as fast as possible on consumer Macs.
The post says Eigen’s agents have already found a 36.8% inference speedup before the competition even starts. The project is also framed as a public, open-weights effort where the community can keep pushing the model and its MLX inference engine further.
