A flying umbrella prototype follows users with drones and depth sensing

A Canadian engineer built an experimental umbrella that hovers above a person and follows them automatically using drone tech, depth sensing, and onboard computing.

The idea is still far from commercial use: battery life is short, wind is a problem, and public drone rules make safety and deployment difficult. Even so, it points to a future where everyday objects may become autonomous and move with us.
