A healthcare data company’s rollout of AI coding tools looked healthy on seat count, but interviews with engineers showed wildly different usage patterns across teams.
The quoted thread says one team wrote specs first, another pasted whole files into chat and hoped for the best, a third had an unused review checklist, and a fourth built something good without telling anyone. The bigger issue was governance: no shared org standard, no clear visibility into live keys or monthly spend, and no one could tell whether sensitive data had been pasted into prompts.
The takeaway is that enterprise adoption can look strong on paper while masking fragmented workflows, weak enforcement, and poor cost/security oversight.
